The Miami Summit established the hemispheric process of regular meetings among Heads of State and Government of the Americas as an institutionalized forum to discuss common problems, seek joint responses and seek ways to strengthen democracy and social and economic development. The Summit process is conducted by the Inter-American Summit System (IAS) in close collaboration with subregional organizations and other regional forums.
In addition, the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) was established to support the implementation of the various Summit mandates. The SIRG includes representatives from the Organization of American States, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Pan American Health Organization, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
